Starter Motivation

Before I started to set up this campaign I first needed to check my email, whatsapp and Slack. Why? Because it's habit. After reading his book: 'Hooked' it really got me thinking. Hooked describes how to convert the “external triggers” that make a person engage with your product into “internal triggers” that bring that person back to it again and again. Join our event to learn more about how to build habit forming products!

Edial Dekker worked as a cook and a barista before turning into productmanager and startup founder.
Edial currently works as a productmanager at Travelbird in Amsterdam and has plans to start his own brewery.
Prior to that he was productmanager at Eventbrite in their San Francisco headquarters.

He is probably most known as the cofounder of Gidsy, a startup revelation from Berlin with that was eventually sold to Getyourguide in 2013. Gidsy was marketplace place where anyone in the world could explore, offer and book nice things to do. Examples included a pilot offering 60-minute sightseeing flights over Berlin, a retired police officer who shows people around the Red Light District in Amsterdam, and an amateur cook in New York that organizes in home cooking classes. Gidsy was available in Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Istanbul, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, and other cities and has raised capital from many highly respected investors, such as Werner Vogels (CTO of Amazon and Ashton Kutcher.

Throughout the years he has been involved in making various good things for the web, for example Hack de Overheid (Hack the Government). Hack de Overheid started out as an irregular ‘hackathon’, where journalists, designers, developers and citizens would come together for a weekend to build digital tools from open government data that people use in their daily lives.

Bart is a passionate ‘Persuasion Psychologist’. He comes from a family of psychologists and married one too. So – although he first tried to study physics – he ended up a… psychologist. Bart specialized in how to influence online consumer behavior. Why online? In his opinion digital is the holy grail for psychology, marketing, service and sales:
“Due to the measurability of apps, websites and the rise of API unlocked databases, online truly enables us to study consumer behavior and how it can be influenced. In a real-life setting with huge numbers of consumers that are not even aware of our studies. Online is a World Wide Valhalla that my lab-testing psychology Professors didn’t even dare to dream of.”
Before turning to A/B- and multi variate testing, Bart did 2500+ usability tests and came to the conclusion that ‘users’ really don’t know what persuades them…

Why do some products capture widespread attention while others flop? What makes us engage with certain products out of sheer habit? Next March (2017), Nir will tell you all about how to create products that people love! We're happy to see that you are part of it :)

As you know, Nir is very excited about coming to Amsterdam. He showed us his enthusiasm via social media, email and now he even recorded a video to let you know that he gladly wants to come.

After two weeks cycling through the rain and drinking cups of coffee we have found the perfect venue for the Nir Eyal event. We are very happy to announce that B.Amsterdam is willing to hosts their (best looking) event space for us. And there is even more exciting news... B.Amsterdam is joining the campaign as a partner and co-organizer. This brings us a huge step closer to the event.

So we got a very interested speaker, we got the venue, we’re really close to picking a date (beginning of 2017), BUT we also need a crowd. The crowd is growing nicely but it can use your help. So join to make this happen!

B.Amsterdam joins the club!
